LFKS January Meeting - Club AGM.

Postby Anotheridiot on 05 Jan 2011 14:19

This months LFKS meeting will take place in O'Tooles GAA club on Blunden Drive Wed 19th January.
Please note that Januarys meeting is the club AGM.

This is where club business will take place and a new committee for 2011 elected.
An agenda for the AGM will be made available before the meeting.

Please note, in order to vote at the AGM, you must have been a paid member for the previous year, and attended a minimum number of meetings.
Any other day, Id say no. But today I'm just gonna go ahead and say NO.

Hi,

Just a few thoughts on the AGM. As you know, we will be voting in a new committee. Existing committee members can opt to stand again as there is no limit on the number of terms a member can serve on the committee. Each person seeking nomination, must be nominated and seconded by two club members.

Here is a list of duties expected from the main committee members:

Chairman/Vice-Chairman
– Chair club and committee meetings
- Represent the club externally
- Ensure the club is running smoothly and arrange committee meetings etc.
- Communicate with sponsors and coordinate collection of sponsor payments

Secretary
– Manage memberships and issue membership cards
- Take minutes at committee and club meetings
- Take role at committee and club meetings
- Ensure all membership subscriptions are passed to the treasurer in a timely manner

Treasurer
– Manage club bank account/key signatory along with Chairman
- Ensure all monies are lodged in a timely manner
- Account for all monies received and paid out
- Present finances at AGM and committee meetings

If you are considering putting yourself forward for a committee role, please ensure that you have the time to dedicate to it. I know there are unforeseen circumstances, but it's important that you can attend committee meetings held for an hour once a month and also have a few hours free every month to attend to club business. You should also ensure that you're available to attend club meetings on a regular basis.

We will be seeking to elect the 4 roles above and will also add two non-officer committee members.

As Dan mentioned above, in order to vote at the AGM, you must have voting rights in accordance with the constitution. The relevant section is:

2.5 Only members who have fully paid their membership subscription for the current year are eligible to participate in any vote. Only members in attendance can vote at AGM’s, EGM’s or regular meetings – no votes may be cast by proxy. New or lapsed members (those who have a gap of more than 3 months in membership) must attend at least two full meetings before being eligible to vote on any club matters. The meeting where they enroll for membership can be counted as their first meeting as a member. They will be eligible to vote after a further meeting. An AGM or EGM will count as a meeting for this purpose.

Since the AGM kicks off the new year, membership for 2010 and having attended the relevant number of meetings will suffice for voting rights at the AGM. If you don't have voting rights as yet, you're still very welcome to attend.

The agenda for the AGM will be as follows:

- Chairman's report - Ken
- Secretary's report - Dave
- Treasurer's report - Ken (for Declan)
- Election of new committee - Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and two non-officer committee roles.
- AOB

If you have any topics that you would like to add for discussion at the AGM, please post to this thread and it will be added to AOB.

Please also note that membership fees for 2011 will be due at the AGM. Membership forms will be available on the night.

I hope to see you all there as the AGM is crucial to planning club activities for 2011.
Regards,

Ken

A reminder if you have anything you want to add to AOB - please post on this thread.

Perhaps the LFKS could take the initiative in getting an inter club event organised.

I feel this is long talked about and long overdue.

Plus, I want to see if Holger really does look like Ronnie Corbett?

Can members vote by long distance conference call? I'm Sure the club could organise a video conference system.
Only joking, hope the meeting goes well. Best of luck to the new committee.
