Of Acros and Montis New Setup

For personal projects like setting up a tank.

Of Acros and Montis New Setup

Postby andrewo on 01 Oct 2013 17:04

Hi all! To cut a long story short I have to move my existing 5 foot marine tank to another place. So I have in place a 3 foot clearseal tank with sump. Total volume aprox 400 litres. So for a short time I will have 2 tanks running until I transfer everything from one to another(which is a good long drive away :| )

Tank measurements are 90cm x 64 (height) and 60 (depth); this is actual measurement with water in it.

Sump is 70cm x 24 (height) x 40 (depth) so total around 400 litres. Love the depth and height of the tank!

Going to go with the 14 day zeovit quick start on new setup.

Hope to get some help from fellow reefers along the way and maybe help others and myself along the way! :)

I am at the stage where the tank is filled with RO/DI water and most appliances are in place; here is a few pictures before I go on.

Thanks for looking;
Andrew

Tank from just cleaned to filled with RO water.

Have a question; is it better to have a lid on the tank? To prevent jumpers and evaporation; and if so is it better to go glass or perspex? Will lighting be affected or is it negligable..

Hi Andrew, certainly a surprise you're setting up another tank, never heard ;) , from the monster softies I got from you I know you have the knack for growing corals. Looking forward to seeing your progress and make sure you document everything so I can follow ( please no big words :D ). All the best in your new ventures

Hi Andrew. Personalty I do not like lids mainly due to gas exchange. And i fink you will lose some percentage of light penetration too. During aquascaping try to create lots of hiding places and choose you stock carefully and you should be ok then. Best of luck with new venture. I like you gadgets . Roman

Hi Roman; thanks for the opinion. Im with you on that too; was just afraid in case flies or pests might drop into the tank!

Finally everything in place to run Day 1 of the zeo program! My tank actual water volume is 410 so 80% of that is what im basing the dosing at;basically its 330 litres.

I moved over around 30 kgs of liverock from my existing setup. Skimmer and lights up.

So Im running 0.85 litres of zeolites.(based on 1 litre per 400 litres of tank water)
Made the Day 1 one off dosing already of 5ml per 100 litres of Zeobak
10ml per 100 litres of Zeostart and finally
3 ml per 100 litres of Sponge Power

Its good to get Day 1 out of the way! :) Pictures to follow..
