It's app for smartphones designed for online forums like this, so you can see it on your phone via a purpose built app, rather than as a webpage on the mobile browser. A bit like how you would look at RTE News or Sky Sports on the iPhone. I think it's free for the forum to set up, but the app for the user end is a few euro

OK, Ive had a look.

The app itself costs the users money, but for the moment, the site nothing.

It requires work to the forum code, how much is unknown without registering on their site, and it may be incompatible with some of the forum modifications already installed - the only way to confirm this is do the work, and then test/see if it works.

Im a little sceptical, as I cant see what the tapatalk people get out of it.

Ive also checked the forum stats - and about 20% of our visits are from smartphones to tablets. While the remaining 80% are from various different flavour of Computers.

Dont get me wrong - I use a smartphone (android) to access the forum quite a lot too. Im just not convinced that its worth our while installing this on the forum server.

How many people have bought the tapatalk app, and have it installed ?
How much work will it be to maintain and keep up to date on our side when they release new versions of the tapatalk server API's ?
What does it have that the forum doesnt have?
Any other day, Id say no. But today I'm just gonna go ahead and say NO.

Tapatalk get the the 70% App fee.

I'd prefer to use this off the phone, but the 4 inch screen is too small for my eyes and fingers when using a browser... I use apps for most other sites. The only sites I access on my 'puter are IFF, The Sun and Uncrate. I'd love to get rid of the laptop and stick with my phone or a tablet.

I`ll never change from my Laptop or PC.
I have a Smart phone but all I use it for is texting and phone calls. I hate all those tiny fewking screens.
Maybe when they put Office, Excel and word etc on them and you don`t have to squint to read it and
there is an app for shrinking your fingers I might throw my Laptop out. Until then..I will continue to
hate them..

I'd agree with DC and I also use tapatalk to browse various forums. Tapatalk makes the forum much more accessible when viewing through a small screen. A great wee program.

At 2.15 euro for the the app on android I personally think it would be worth it. It would be nice to be able to upload photos directly from my phone.

I can't wait for TapaTalk to be available. Sure I can do from my phone, have 4 browsers to choose from so if something doesn't work on one I try another.
But TapaTalk just makes it the way its supposed to be. It's not just uploading pics, it's the whole experience. Browsing this on the phone with a browser is not bad, but kind of pain. Sure it all fits on 720p screen of most of modern phones, but there is loads of little things you need to zoom in before you can tap them.
It would be brilliant to have this forum on TapaTalk just like I have the other UK/US reef-related forums.
Re app price: it's not the only forum that we would use with the app, actually it's very rarely that a forum is not supported by TapaTalk, so think about accessing all the other ones youre already using (not necessairly fish related).
I never do any water changes.
