Postby Dirty Discus on 05 Sep 2012 00:29

I'm looking to add more plants to my tank this was my first time using live plants so don't know a great deal about them. The current plants in are microsorum and anubias but they are planted on bogwood . I have a sand base normal aquarium sand and would like to add more plants are there any suitable to be planted in sand.

I also have sand, but under that i have jbl Aquabasis plus..
Most plants, if not all, will grow in it and thrive, and actually prefer it more than gravel. In my experience they do in anyway.

Hygrophila Polysperma grew like a weed for me in just sand. You could also try amazon swords, vallis, cabomba. Theres quite a few you could try.

I would say hairgrass would grow in anything. Also, most of the Hygrophila should grow without fertiliser, they might not propagate but will stay alive.
